Actions and Solutions:
Translated Tools for a Changing Water World
Sunday 12 August
12:15-13:15, Folkets Hus, Room 204
Convenor: The World Conservation Union (IUCN)
The Water and Nature Initiative (WANI) 1st phase was completed in June 2007, six years after its start. It has worked with 80+ partner organisations to improve water management for healthy rivers and communities. Demonstration of good management in 10 river basins across the world was supported by the development of tools for financing, governance, empowerment and information.
During this first phase of the initiative (2001-2007), a toolkit series has been compiled to support learning from projects. The toolkit books – entitled CHANGE, VALUE, FLOW, PAY – have been translated into more than 10 languages. From Khmer to Portuguese, and from Chinese to French, the toolkits are proving to be valuable assets in water management across the globe.
The objective of this presentation is to ensure that the achievements and lessons learnt from WANI I are shared with the wider water community, which can benefit and make use of the WANI translations and innovative strategies. |
