Event Description

Developing Clear and Effective Responses to Climate Change
Water is the primary medium through which climate change will affect livelihoods, shape economies and alter the natural environment. For this reason how the resource is managed by humans will determine, in large part, how effectively we can respond to the challenge of adaptation. The Water and Climate days present a comprehensive programme of scientific knowledge, practical responses and opportunities for public awareness raising; but perhaps most critically, a chance to push for greater political action in the run-up too and beyond COP-15. The sessions build on previous Water and Climate Days held in 2007 and 2008 and are a joint effort between many organisations working on key water and climate policy issues.

See the film "Mountains in the Mist"

Cloud forests are very rare ecosystems, only 2% of the world's tropical forests are cloud forests. This film shows how scientists try to unravel the secrets of these ecosystems and how forest protection works in Costa Rica.
