Event Description World Water Week participants meet again for the last time in plenary to listen to distinguished speakers and to present the outcomes of the weeks discussions and discuss the way forward.
Reflections
The keynote speakers will be representing different perspectives talking about the priorities and challenges they face and what they bring back from the Week in order to advance the work in their region, sector and organisation.
From the World Water Week to Cop-15
For several years, Climate Change has been a focus of numerous events and discussions during the World Water Week. The 2009 agenda in the subject has been rich and varied and provides an opportunity to push for greater political action. World Water Week will through “the Stockholm Statement” send a message to COP-15.
Reporting Back
The diversity of topics and perspectives that are addressed and voiced over the course of the World Water Week presents a tremendous opportunity and a challenging task to highlight specific issues and to draw conclusions for further actions. Our approach to report back from the week at the Closing Plenary Session is to select a number of subthemes that each have an appointed Rapporteur team. A leading expert in the field takes on the role of “Lead Rapporteur” and guides each team to draw conclusions and elucidate what is new from relevant workshops, seminars and side events.
During the "Reporting Back" segment at the week's final plenary session, the rapporteur teams present their findings in short presentations, and then engage with the audience in a highly interactive moderated discussion allowing all participants to reflect upon their own conclusions and freshly gained knowledge from the week. The reports and the plenary discussion form the basis for the written World Water Week Synthesis Report published later in the year.
