Regional Backgrounders

Africa is struggling with the effects of climate change.  Asia is dealing with the major challenge of providing water and sanitation to hundreds of millions of new urban residents. Europe is using up it’s groundwater faster than it can be replenished, and the countries of the Middle East are looking for new ways of dealing with water scarcity.

Depending on climatic conditions, economic status and social contexts, the water related challenges and opportunities differ greatly between different parts of the world.
