17:15-19:00 Room K24
In 2005 the annual session of the Commission on Sustainable Development, CSD 13, decided upon a number of policy actions within the domain of water and sanitation. This session will present the draft results from a UN DESA study monitoring the implementation of these CSD decisions. The policy actions cover the issues of: access to basic water services; IWRM; access to basic sanitation; sanitation and hygiene education; and wastewater collection, treatment and reuse. An extensive survey of 72 policy actions has been completed as an input to the study. The survey has been performed by national experts in 35 different countries under the leadership of the Stockholm International Water Institute. The session objective is to present the results of the study and receive input to its finalization. The study will be presented jointly by UN DESA and the SIWI project team.
