Sanitation, Economics and Health: Launch of a Practical Manual
Monday 18 August
Lunch Side Event
Convenors: University of Geneva, Department of Econometrics and World Health Organization (WHO)
With support from the Geneva International Academic Network the University of Geneva team worked with WHO to develop a "Practical Manual for Costing Improved Drinking-water Systems for Low-income Communities", which is currently being tested in six countries in South-East Asia.
They also developed a "Practical Manual for Costing Improved Sanitation Options for Low-income Communities", which has been elaborated into a guidance document on cost-benefit analysis of sanitation options. The manuscript of this guidance document will be presented and discussed at this side event, for discussion and comments. The guide is scheduled to be published later in 2008 as a contribution to the International Year of Sanitation.
