The Swedish Baltic Sea Water Award

Established in 1999, the Swedish Baltic Sea Water Award recognises direct and practical efforts to improve water quality in the Baltic Sea. The award, worth SEK 150,000, is presented annually by Sweden’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs during the World Water Week in Stockholm to an individual, corporation, non-governmental organisation or municipality whose work protects and restores the Baltic Sea’s water environment.
Prof. Krzysztof Edward Skóra will be recognised with the 2008 Swedish Baltic Sea Water Award during the Closing Plenary Session. Prof. Skóra will be honoured for his expansive research and educational activities to increase capacity and spread awareness on protecting the Baltic Sea as Director of the Hel Marine Station at the University of Gdansk.
