Ms. Renee Andersson, Sustainability Consultant
Renée Andersson has been working with human rights throughout her life, as a volunteer and as professional. She worked for Swedish Save the Children 1984-1999, in Sweden, Yemen, Ethiopia and Bangladesh.
In 1999-2002 she was appointed Project Manager to “DressCode”, by four Swedish garment retailers and Clean Clothes Campaign, in order to find a system for auditing and implementing worker´s rights in the Textile Industry in India, China and Bangladesh.
2002-2003 she was the manager of Amnesty Business Group, Sweden.
Renée was then appointed Manager of Ethics and Environment at Indiska Magasinet AB, 2003-2015, a Swedish retailing company in textiles and interior design. She worked mainly in India, but also in China and Turkey. Together with Lund university she collaborated in a research project on sludge in the textile industry in South India. She is also the initiator of Sweden Textile Water Initiative, 2010, and was actively involved in the SWAR-project in India, (Sustainable Water Resources, 2012-2014).
In 2012 she was conferred an Honorary Doctor at Lund University for her work on water, ethics and economy in the Indian textile industry.
She currently works as a consultant in sustainability issues to companies and organizations and as a lecturer in seminars.
Renée Andersson specializes in human rights/worker´s rights, in different industries in production countries in Asia and water issues in their production chains. She is a board member of Swedfund, Swedbank Robur Sustainability Council and the Ethical Board at The Swedish Anti-Corruption Institute. Since 1989 she has a non-profit engagement in Blichta Association for the leprosy village in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia.
