Best Poster Award

Posters presented during the World Water Week have always been an important component of the overall programme.

Posters follow the same themes as the individual workshops, and will be displayed all week at the World Water Week venue. Two time slots have been set aside when the authors will be available at their posters in order to provide short introductions and comments. The chairs of the different workshops will provide an overview of the posters in their respective workshop sessions. The Best Poster Award was presented during the Closing Plenary Session.

"Virtual Water Rivers and Transboundary Cooperation Interactions"
(The online poster can be slow with Intenet Explorer. We recommend you to open it with Fire Fox and Google Crome. For the abstract, click here.)
"The jury's considerations include the original subject matter, with a clearly defined research question and well formulated conclusions and recommendations that add value to our perceptions of virtual water and our options to negotiate transboundary cooperation. There is also a high relevance to the World Water Week theme on water cooperation. The poster was crisp and clear and used the new technology for poster presentation very well."

Honorable mention

Mr. Shamim Arfeen, AOSED, Bangladesh
The poster "Community initiative to ensure peoples' access to safe water, sanitation and enhance proper health hygiene practices" presents a considered effort of innovative cooperation at the community level. This poster is especially noted for the good use of the new technology. Mr. Arfeen's enthusiasm in presenting his poster was also influential.
Mr. Hlalanathi Fundzo, Department of Water Affairs, South Africa
The poster "Water and Sanitation are human rights! An investigation into policy options to the provision of water services to South African informal settlements" presents efforts that build on the evolving human rights framework in South Africa. It tackles the informal settlements and comes up with very policy-relevant recommendations that complement the achievements already apparent in South Africa.
